I'm a little biased, but the book is really stunning: the artwork balances nicely between beautiful and frightening, and Andersen's original text tell's the Little Mermaid's simple story with a sensitivity toward her character that is rare in fiction written during the same period. Lots of great information in one book. As it happens, the book ends happily, which became a pleasant surprise. Has great potential . Now I know why it was so inexpensive, yet still a complete waste of my money since I actually wanted to read the entire work of Jane Austen. The background leading up to the 'apocalypse' in 2013 is fun science fiction reading.
