reviews: This book is a nice little history of the Mormons in northwestern Missouri during the 1830s. It avoids most of the controversy surrounding this era, but I enjoyed reading it because it paints a positive picture of the outcome of the LDS in Missouri....

Well written and gruesomely described murder/hit scene introduces us to Killian. it is a elegantly illustrated volume, full of plans, drawings and photographs. He's thinking about his wife's slow smile, about the thick, fat steaks she's picked up at the butcher's, about the bottle of champagne she's got packed in ice, about sleeping in till ten in the morning and spending sunny afternoons flat on his back.
